Bonderite 1455-W Wipes provide a fast and simple way to create a conversion coating on steel surfaces. The Bonderite 1455-W sheets are simply wiped over the pre-cleaned surface to set in motion a chemical reaction to produce the coating, which greatly improves corrosion resistance and adhesion of paints and primers.
The process is suitable for use on hot-rolled and cold-rolled steels, armour plate, and galvanised surfaces. The chromium-free conversion coating forms as a result of a chemical reaction to create true chemical bonds.
Surfaces to be treated with Bonderite 1455-W wipes must be thoroughly cleaned beforehand, using abrasion to remove any loose surface material and Parcosol 263 wipes to provide a degreased surface. The Bonderite sheets are then simply wiped evenly over the surface and the reaction proceeds. No rinsing is necessary, and the conversion process stops as the liquid film dries.
The resulting surface provides an excellent key for primer or paint, and imparts excellent corrosion resistance to the metal.
