Novastrip 99 is a two-pack process of two liquid Novastrip products, 99A and 99C (in some processes a powder additive 99D may be required). The process is designed for the removal of polyester and epoxy polyester powder from a variety of substrates, other organic finishes can also be removed; however, the speed of removal will vary depending on resin and the pre-treatment type. It is free of chlorinated solvents and is based on non-chlorinated high boiling solvents and caustic alkali. When the bath is operated correctly no attack on aluminium is seen.
Novastrip 99 is used at a low operating temperature, is economical to use, less difficult and less expensive to dispose of than conventional paint strippers, and offers minimal substrate attack.
Low evaporation means that it is safer to use – fume extraction is not normally a requirement, however, it is recommended that the area should be well ventilated. Novastrip 99A is not classified as corrosive, Novastrip 99C and Novastrip 99D are corrosive, and therefore operators should wear protective gloves, goggles and clothing.
It is recommended that materials should be tested to determine suitability, as Novastrip 99 will have a detrimental effect on many plastics and rubbers.
