Hubbard-Hall Acid Brite 250 Acid Cleaner, Deoxidiser and Passivating Solution

Hubbard-Hall’s Acid Brite 250 is an acid cleaner, deoxidiser and passivating solution for stainless steel surfaces. It may also be used to remove light scale from steel, as well as light scale and oxidation from copper and copper-based alloys.

Acid Brite 250 is a blend of organic acids and surfactants, ideal for effectively cleaning stainless steel without the need for hydrofluoric or nitric acid. It is biodegradable, free rinsing and can be used in soak and spray applications. Work should be free of heavy oils and greases prior to passivating stainless steel or deoxidising steel or copper-based alloys.

Concentration, temperature and dwell time vary depending upon application, as follows:

Passivation – concentration 7% by volume, temperature 50-70C, dwell time 2-5 minutes.

Cleaning – concentration 5-10% by volume, temperature 38-70C, dwell time 5-10 minutes.

Scale removal – concentration 5-25% by volume, temperature 25-70C, dwell time 5-15 minutes.

Agitation and the use of ultrasonic equipment are desirable, and beneficial in all applications. The addition of Acid Brite 250 Concentrate will maintain the pH level (1.8-2.2).

For light oils and soils, a pre-wash is recommended to ensure complete cleanliness – this can be done in a separate tank with 10% volume solution of Acid Brite 250.

For heavy oils and soils, Hubbard-Hall’s Aquaease SL 916 should be utilised.

Acid Brite 250 is acidic with a pH of 1.8-2.0 – therefore all health and safety guidelines on usage should be strictly followed.
