Aerowax MT is an environmentally-responsible plating mask wax which is specifically formulated for aerospace applications. It is effective at masking complicated geometries for hard chrome, lead, silver, and sulphamate nickel processes and may be used in any plating bath where the temperature is below the melting point of the wax (76-82C).
Aerowax MT is a highly refined wax product formulated to give excellent flexibility and adhesion. It is compatible with most substrates including steel and other ferrous alloys, alodined, anodised or untreated aluminium and alloys, copper and copper alloys, titanium, and magnesium. Aerowax MT incorporates a high visibility indicator dye to assist plating bath operators in generating uniform coverage.
This product has a low environmental impact, offering zero ozone depletion potential ad low global warming potential. It is approved under the Significant New Alternatives Programme (SNAP) by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Aerowax MT is not a hazardous air pollutant and is not regulated by NESHAP, SARA, or RCRA.
Aerowax MT can be removed easily using Bioact 280 series water-rinsable dewaxing solvents. Made, like Aerowax, by Petroferm, these cleaners offer excellent wax loading with very low volatility, and are suitable replacements for trike (TCE), caustics, and other hazardous solvents.
