Petroferm BIOACT 280E

Bioact 280E is an environmentally-responsible semi-aqueous replacement for trichloroethylene (trike) in heated immersion applications for the removal of paraffinic and microcrystalline plating and thermoplastic fixturing waxes. It has multiple approvals for use in aerospace applications.

Bioact 280E is effective for the removal of metalworking fluids and lubricants, pitch, grease, and buffing compound from most metal surfaces. It is safe for use on ferrous metals including steel and stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals and alloys including copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, and zinc. Bioact 280E may also be used safely on many polymer and elastomer surfaces. Bioact 280E cleans well even when heavily loaded with contaminants.

Bioact 280E offers zero ozone depletion potential and no significant global warming potential. It contains no hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) and is not regulated under NESHAPs, SARA, or RCRA regulations. It meets the requirements of the US EPA SNAPs (Significant New Alternatives Programme) initiative. It has low odour, a high flashpoint (148C) and is readily biodegradable.

In addition to replacing trichloroethylene (TCE), Bioact 280E is an effective substitute for some common HCFCs, methylene chloride (MeCl), perchloroethylene (PCE), and n-propyl bromide (nPB). The product has won multiple approvals from key aerospace operators including Boeing, Pratt & Whitney, and Rolls-Royce.
